WHAT IS M.M.A?
M.M.A (methymethacrylate)is a chemical liquid used to make some nail enhancements.It is a poisonous substance and a high sensitiser and likely allergen that can cause severe allergic reactions through minoe exposure.It has been outlawed in many states in Amercia.M.M.A was designed to make dental acrylic,where it is safe to be used,and is completely undeveloped for use in the nail industry.Basically if you have M.M.A acrylic on your nails you are wearing dental veneers as acrylic nails!!!
WHAT DOES IT CAUSE?
M.M.A cause nail allergies,nail disfigurements ans infections(which if left can rot the nail)soreness,complete /partial loss of nail,ridges,respiratory problems and the strong odour can cause asthma attacks.
WHY IS IT USED?
Plain and simple...its cheap for the nail technician/salon to buyM.M.A is sold through backdoors and out of vans.No professional supplier sells M.M.A as they couldnt afford the liability.Also M.M.A enhancements rarely break on impact,when have you ever known false teeth to break?,however the damage is done underneath on the natural nail.
HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOUR ACRYLIC ENHANCEMENTS CONTAIN M.M.A?
M.M.A nail enhancemnets are very very hard with a yellow tinge and a "fishy" odour and a grainy texture.The enhancemnets are usually finished by airbrushing the tip white instead of using white acrylic.M.M.A nail also only bonds to the natural nail with the use of a electric drill.

-Client NOT asked to fill in a client consultation form(essential to establish allergies etc)
-Lack of good hygiene(ALL metal implements and files should be cleaned and sanitised prior to use on a client)
-Electric files/drills used(essential to bond M.M.A to the nail).
-Enhancements/acrylic extensions priced at £15-£25....IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT USUALLY IS
-Enhancements yellow after 2-6 weeks
